strategies
High King Maulgar
- The hardest part about this encounter is the pull, one wrong move and it can set the raid up for a wipe. Hunter misdirect helps a lot here.
- Blindeye the Seer is a priest, tank him away from all the other adds and kill him first. If you have any cast slowing abilities or healing reduction abilities use them throughout the fight. When his shield goes up you can not silence him, burst the shield down and silence any of his heals.
- Olm the Summoner is a warlock who summons fel stalkers, kill him second. Usually 2 warlocks will be enslaving the stalkers and tanking Olm the Summoner with them. This is very important, fel stalkers hit hard and if they are running wild it's a wipe. Additional fel stalkers are banished or feared to avoid problems.
- Krosh Firehand is a mage and must be tanked by a mage, kill him third! Pull him to the right side of the room, keeping his AoE away from the raid. The mage should spellsteal Krosh Firehand's shield.
- Kiggler the Crazed is a shaman, he will sometimes hex his main target so have two tanks or a furry boomkin or feral druid on him. Keep him away from the group because his Arcane Explosion has a knockback effect. Kill him fourth.
- High King Maulgar is now your target, he is tanked on the left side of the room to avoid damage from the others and from dealing damage to the raid while killing the adds. Melee enters the fight after a whirlwind and needs to avoid it at all costs, it can one shot most classes.
- At 50% High King will drop his hammer reducing his melee damage and turn all red! He will charge random party members and do an AoE fear. It is advisable to have 2 tanks, one waiting for the AoE fear, then taunting High King making sure no raid members will aggro him.
Gruul the Dragonkiller Abilities
- Cave In which is a noticeable random AoE, you will see the ground shaking and debris falling from the sky on you. You need to move out of this.
- Gronn Lord's Grasp is a stacking debuff that occurs after Ground Slam. It will slow your movement speed by 20% every second until you shatter. This can be dispelled, allowing you to move away from other raid members before you shatter.
- Ground Slam is a zone-wide knockback, throwing everyone in random directions. Once you land make sure to move away from any nearby raid members.
- Growth occurs every 30 seconds, increasing Gruul's damage by 15%. This can stack up to thirty times! If you have not killed him by growth 16 you will usually wipe.
- Hateful Strike occurs every 20 second on the person with the second highest threat. This makes it very important to have 2 or more tanks, making sure none tanks do not get hit.
- Reverberation will randomly silence the whole raid for 4 seconds. Healers try keeping HoTs on the tank to heal them during this.
- Shatter occurs after being Stoned, its damage is increased for any raid member who is close to you. Make sure you are not close to anyone, especially healers during this time.
- Stoned occurs 5 seconds after ground slam, making your character turn to stone.
Gruul the Dragonkiller Strategy
- The tank pulls Gruul facing him away from the party, everyone engages in the fight.
- All raid members watch out for Cave In, moving out of it.
- When you are Ground Slammed, make sure you move once you land, staying away from any raid members. Being too close will cause you to take a lot more damage from Shatter. If you are DPS bandage after shatter or drink a potion, healers will love you for this.
- Keep the tank HoT's rolling, this is vital especially during Reverberation.
- Melee watch their threat, making sure they are not above the off tanks. Ranged do not have to worry about Hateful Strike, so just stay below the main tanks threat.
