You need to be at least level 50 in fishing to learn Journeyman Fishing. Fishing is much like a players experience while leveling, depending on what level fishing you are you will need to catch a certain amount of fish to gain a skill point. Listed below is the amount of fish needed for each fishing level range.

1. If your fishing level is between 1-75 you will need to catch on average 1 fish to gain 1 skill point.
2. If your fishing level is between 76-145 you will need to catch on average 2 fish to gain 1 skill point.
3. If your fishing level is between 146-190 you will need to catch on average 3 fish to gain 1 skill point.
4. If your fishing level is between 191-225 you will need to catch on average 4 fish to gain 1 skill point.
5. If your fishing level is between 226-265 you will need to catch on average 5 fish to gain 1 skill point.
6. If your fishing level is between 266-300 you will need to catch on average 6 fish to gain 1 skill point.
7. If your fishing level is between 301-340 you will need to catch on average 11 fish to gain 1 skill point.
8. If your fishing level is between 341-375 you will need to catch on average 12 fish to gain 1 skill point.
9. If your fishing level is between 375-430 you will need to catch on average 13 fish to gain 1 skill point.
10. If your fishing level is between 430-450 you will need to catch on average 15 fish to gain 1 skill point.
